As
humans are creatures of habit, the state of a person's home has been
known to physiologically influence their behavior, emotions, and
overall mental health. Make sure the state of your home is healthy!
It’s important that it reflects you and your inspirations, that it
gives you what you need from it. Snug and Comfy? Spare and peaceful?
Shot full of riotous color, or serenely taupe? It’s up to you and
yours.
It might surprise my customer friends to know that I rarely take
home items from the shop, but it’s true – up till now. All of a sudden
I absolutely needed to have a change, a lightening of mood, perhaps in
anticipation of spring, and there were 3 or 4 beauties in the shop
that absolutely needed to come home with me. At long last, feathering
my nest! Seems appropriate. I’ll even share a view with you. Not
before and after, mind, just a work in progress. Some of you might
recognize a transplanted piece or 2. Home is where the heart is; in my
case, home is where the art is.
Anyone want to share a pic or 2 of their transplants and favorite
goodies for the next Stylish Dictionary? Email me
at penine@peninehart.com.
Speaking of art, art from Penine Hart Antiques & Art is popping
up everywhere: a painting by Lynn Umlauf featured in the May Vogue
Index with Denise Porcaro of Flower Girl; two paintings and a
sculpture adorning the tastefully gorgeous country home of
Darryl Carter, the cover story in May’s Elle Décor; and a special
feature on Jeanne Hedstrom’s dog portraits in the upcoming issue of
House Beautiful (and look for an exhibition announcement coming
your way soon!)
